William will be sadly missed by his beloved nieces and nephews, the Crooks family: Jennifer, Colleen, Bill, Meredith and Michael; and their respective families.

William is predeceased by his cherished sister Mary Rose Crooks and his parents William Strachan Sr. and Theresa Nolan.

Fondly remembered for his introverted, proud and proper nature, his unique sense of humour and his devotion to his faith. William grew up in Montreal, going to his family camp on Bevin Lake in North Quebec where he loved swimming. He was a Catholic priest before marrying the love of his life, Ellen, and becoming a step-father. William enjoyed the closeness of family gatherings and plenty of good food. He was a pianist and his step-children fondly remember him playing “I Hate To See You Go” when he was ready for them to leave.

William was always devoted to his faith and to serving his community. After leaving the priesthood he became a counsellor for men or as he called them, his “Angry Men’s Group”. William then found his calling in health care becoming a chaplain and then Director of Palliative Care at St. Joe’s Hospital in Sarnia.

William will be missed by his Faith Group friends and by all those whose lives he touched.

Cremation has taken place.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday April 13th at 10:30am at Holy Cross Parish, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to Cancer Assistance Halton Hills would be appreciated by the family.
