Leslie, William Bryan “Billy Boy” – Passed away peacefully with his family holding his hands on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Georgetown Hospital. Bill, in his 84th year, was the beloved best friend and husband of Pauline for 59 wonderful years. Loving father of Laura Leslie (Derek Ewald) and David (Michelle) Leslie. Poppy to Brandon, Christopher, Kurtis, Ethan and Jayme. Dear brother of Gary (Genevieve), and uncle to Amy and the late Richard Leslie.
Bill and Pauline built a beautiful life together. He was a good listener, a patient and supportive father to Dave and Laura. Immensely proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments, Bill always had a plan and was ready to organize, teach, and carry out his next project. More work became the cottage mantra when Poppy was around.
He loved to plan trips, road trips and cruises were always in the works.
24 years in a wheelchair couldn’t prevent Bill from what he truly set his mind to doing. Determined to not give up his freedom, Bill would push his limits and could persuade his friends and family to agree to just about any one of his wild ideas. Whether it was a Hummer Jeep ride over the precarious rocks of Hell’s gate in Moab Utah or going for a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, all these adventures filled his cup. He literally / figuratively pushed Pauline up the Bears Tooth Highway, bordering Montana and Wyoming a highway 10, 000 above sea level. Polly was shaking, Bill was laughing.
The cottage he built was Bill’s happy place, a cottage that continually seemed to grow, with one new project after another. It was a homebase for the family where he would build and create, or simply sit and enjoy the sunset while Tammy Wynette crooned in the background.
On this piece of paradise, stories were shared and laughter was always a part of dinner time conversation. Bill’s sense of humour will be missed above all else by his family and friends.
Bill’s final words were: Be happy for me I am free; I am with God in all his Majesty!
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the GBS Foundation, or the charity of your choice are greatly appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy, please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co
