COX, William "Bill" Lightfoot, It is with profound heartache that we announce the peaceful passing of a most amazing man on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in his 90th year. Bill was the best friend, soulmate 'Cowboy' and love of his wife Joan's life, for 60 years. Adored and loving dad of Tom (Sharon) and his Ween (Colleen). Cherished grandaddy to Liám, Lucas and Michael. He is survived by his brother Jim (late Carol) and brother's-in-law Jim (Bev), David (late Shirley) and Robert (Deb). He will be greatly missed by his nephews and their families, and anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting this gentle, hard working man that some called "Billy Blue Eyes" In the mid 60's Bill helped found the Kleinburg Volunteer Firefighters when he and Joan lived in Nashville. In 1969 they moved to Georgetown to raise their family in the country. In the mid 70's, Bill gave up his suit and tie job with Disposal Services to start doing what he loved, landscaping, being the first company 'Cox Landscaping' in the then small town. In the 80's his son Tom joined him and it became 'Cox & Son Landscaping', going from maintenance to being the first to do Unilock paving stones. From there he went on to build some wonderful projects that can still be seen today. In the early 90's, Bill decided to add yet another adventure to his already full plate, the best little fry truck located in Ashgrove. With a loyal following, people traveled quite a distance, some over an hour just for his poutine. Some of his favourite customers were of the feathered kind as he always had to make sure the wee birds got a taste too. He also loved driving in his '64 Chrysler Windsor and was always up for a good road trip to Mopar car shows, finding a '69 Dart GTS 340 in Ohio with Tom and driving it back home. Always a hard workingman with a smile so contagious and bright blue eyes, Bill made friends wherever he went. His greatest achievement however was his family, and for that we will be forever grateful. He will be truly missed, forever loved and always in our hearts. We love you Cowboy, Pops, Daddy, Chum, Billy... Due to the current situation with Covid-19, a Celebration of Bill's Life will take place when we can all gather together in the sun and honour him the way he deserves.
Those wishing to honour Bill's memory are encouraged to do so to the Alzheimer's Society. To make a memorial contribution or to send the family a condolence message, please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co
