William Roy Ballentine
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Roy Ballentine, in his 86th year, on Friday September 7th, 2012 at the Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital. Devoted husband to Betty (nee Young) for 61 years. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary Ballentine and his three brothers Ross, Les and Ken. Loving dad to Mary Jane (Vince) and Doug (Lucienne). Loved grandpa to Matthew (Renate), Amanda (Ryan), Dustin and Jeremy and a special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Roy worked for Bell Canada for 40 years and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He gladly volunteered his time to one and all and was an active Georgetown city councillor, volunteer ambulance driver, baseball and hockey coach and when time permitted he drove for the Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills. Roy was a gentleman and a gentle man, he will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Monday September 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday September 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Norval.
