Wayne Keith Vernon Green

October 7, 1959 — July 24, 2022

Green, Wayne Keith Vernon – Passed suddenly on Sunday July 24, 2022. Wayne, in his 63rd year, loved father of Alex, Davis (Ben) Wanless and Sam. Dear brother of Susan (Dennis) Day and Raymond. Uncle of Christine (Stuart) Fraser, Wayne (Cindy) Day and Colin Smallwood. Wayne is survived by his great nieces Makayla and Alyssa Fraser, Jessica Day, and April Smallwood and great nephew Austin Day. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Vernon and Barbara Green. Wayne had an industrious career in Construction and Project Management, including as co-owner of J.S. Watson & Associates under his mentor Stuart Watson, and senior positions with Dalton, Halsall, Van Bots, Carillion, Aecon and Walsh. He will forever be remembered for his larger-than-life character, his huge sense of humour and booming laugh, and his enjoyment of recanting the time-worn tales with his college friends Steve, Jack and Ezio, the outdoor fires with his neighbours on Miller Drive (including his buddies “the Joes” in their matching Tilley hats), and his many good times with his incredibly supportive friends at The Gallery – his neighbour Blair in particular, who welcomed Wayne to his cottage several times. Wayne was a perpetual teenager, always enjoying action movies (including Marvel), video games, off-colour jokes about bodily functions, classic rock music and his fair share of cannabis. Wayne had many great times and vacations in past years with his family, was devoted to his parents, and had the whirlwind ability to throw himself into a complex new hobby, only to abandon it just as quickly and move on to another. He had a gargantuan appetite and love of food, was a coffee (particularly espresso) aficionado, and adored his cat Zoey who added much to his recent life. For all the many blessings in Wayne’s life, he suffered greatly with mental health issues and his family want to thank all those who tried to help him overcome those challenges. He had many, many people on his side. A celebration of Wayne’s life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Talk Suicide Canada (www.talksuicide.ca) or the North Halton Kitten Rescue (www.nhkr.ca) would be appreciated.
