Viktor Onoprijenko (1945 – 2024)

Viktor Onoprijenko, age 78, of Georgetown, Ontario passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024. Viktor was a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend.

Viktor was born in Germany in 1945 following the end of WW2 and immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1952. Growing up in Streetsville Ontario, Viktor attended Streetsville High School and later Wilfrid Laurier University where he graduated with his BA, and Niagara University where he received his Masters Degree in Education. Viktor spent the majority of his adult years living and raising his family in Georgetown, Ontario.

Viktor had a passion for teaching which led him into a career in education. He joined the Peel Board of Education at age 21 where he started as a teacher, and later became a Vice Principal and then Principal in many schools over his 32 year career. He loved the challenges of educating the next generation of students.

Viktor is fondly remembered by his family, friends, students, and colleagues as a kind, sociable, and caring influence who loved cars, repairing everything around the house, and completing many amazing woodworking projects such as birdhouses, swing sets, and benches.

Viktor is survived by his wife Helena, sons Greg and Steve, daughters-in-law Nicole and Kerry, and grandchildren Nick, Eden, Olive, and Charlie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Jones Funeral Home - Trafalgar Room,  on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
