Hladin, Verna Doreen- Peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Dorothy Ley Hospice in Etobicoke after a courageous long battle as a result of pancreatic cancer. Verna, in her 74th year, loving mother of Katherine Atkinson-Thomas and son-in-law Jim Thomas of Terra Cotta, and Hugh Atkinson of Sudbury. Proud step-grandmother of Mary-Anne and Stephen. Dear sister of Jim Hladin and his wife Freda of Etobicoke, Dolly Whelan and late husband John (Irish) of Sudbury, Celia Lavigne and husband, Emile of Sudbury, Jack Hladin and wife Jocelyne of Rouyn, Quebec, the late Dennis Hladin and wife Diane of Sudbury. She will be remembered fondly by her god-daughter Aimee (Vachon ) Jankowski and her numerous nieces and nephews with special thanks to Linda, Sheila, David, Brian, Patricia, Jackie, Julie, Kevin, Sharon and Debbie for always keeping her in their thoughts and prayers.
Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., 905-877-3631 on Sunday, February 17 for visitation from 2 -4:00 pm. A private funeral and committal service will be in the chapel at 11:00 am on Monday, February 18 for family and close friends. Cremation has taken place. Thank-you to all the hospital doctors, nurses, staff and visitors that made a difference over the past 17 years.
