It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Valerie Anne Knowles (Buck). Our Lord welcomed Valerie home on February 20th 2025, at Extendicare, surrounded by her family and friends.
Valerie will be remembered by the love of her life Tommy - with whom she shared 33 years of marriage; her children Allison Rideout (Jagger Rideout), Natasha Knowles (Graham Mundy), Stephanie Knowles (Alec Boutilier), Jillian Knowles (Jordan Emberley); grandchildren Westley and Scarlett Rideout; her Sister Cheryl Buck Giesbrecht (Rob Giesbrecht); and many sibling in-laws, nieces and nephews and our family that continues to grow. Predeceased by Bill Buck and Cecile Buck (Cloutier), Virginia Claire Knowles, Ron Knowles and Gael Knowles.
A Georgetown resident since 1982, Val worked at A&P Metro as a cashier for 30 years; she was an active member of the Holy Cross Parish community. Anyone who met Val immediately knew that they were in the presence of one of the purest and kindest souls they would ever have the honour of knowing. Whether it was a brief conversation or a lifelong friendship, Val brightened the life of everyone she crossed paths with. Valerie always wanted a big family and embraced being a Mother, God-Mother, Gramma with her whole heart. The walls of her home and her heart, stretched to welcome and love the friends of her girls as her own; sharing her kindness, advice, silliness, and love of singing and dancing. Her girls will continue to carry her gentle kindness and sing along whenever their songs come on. Her boundless love shines through them, and even those who didn’t have the privilege of knowing her personally, feel Val’s sparkle radiating through each of her daughters. Being a gramma was one of the greatest joys of her life. She adored sitting down and playing with the kids, letting them bring her into their world.
Val loved nature, hiking, and animals, she found God’s peace in all of His creation. She was always creative: music, art, and baking were expressions of her soul and activities she enjoyed with her family. If there wasn’t a puzzle on her kitchen table, there was a craft, and kids with sticky hands. She loved being a soccer-mom, often going from one soccer field to another to support her four girls in their sports.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and stories shared.
