Terrance Edward Mcgowan

d. December 18, 2018

Peacefully, on December 18, 2018, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Terrance Edward McGowan passed from this earth.
Terry was the beloved husband of Eunice for 59 years, the cherished father of Susan (André) of Ottawa, Maureen of Toronto, Catherine of Georgetown and Tim (Kate) of Glen Williams, and the devoted and proud grandfather of Catherine, Felix, Duncan and Callum.
Terry was much loved by his brothers Jim (the late Caryl) of Toronto, Barry (Dee) of Regina, and Don (Dorothy) of Spokane, Washington. Uncle and cousin to many in the McGowan, Munro and Dafoe clans, Terry will be missed profoundly by his family.
Terry will also be missed by a multitude of friends all over Canada, but most significantly in the Georgetown community where he lived since 1976 and leaves behind many cherished friends.
An avid sports enthusiast, Terry played hockey, basketball, handball, tennis, curling and squash, and rarely missed an NHL hockey or CFL football game. In recent years, he stopped playing tennis, but greatly appreciated his buddies including him in the apr&egraves tennis activities at the pub.
Terry was also creative: known for his love of singing, off-the-books cooking and baking adventures, DIY home improvement projects, and his eclectic taste in art and collecting.
A Chartered Accountant by profession, Terry attended the University of Saskatchewan before working at various companies and organizations in Regina, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Cambridge Bay, most notably in the mining and investment industries.
A noted joker, Terry was always making us laugh, delighting in a good debate, and nothing made him happier than gatherings of his family and friends.
Terry’s immediate family shared stories of his life in a small ceremony following his cremation, and warmly invite you to join them in a celebration of his life on February 2, 2019 at 1:00 pm at St. John’s United Church, Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bennett Village through CanadaHelps.org
