Teodulo “Ted” Aguilera, affectionately known as “Teddy” by many, passed away suddenly on December 25, 2025, in Etobicoke, Ontario, at the age of 81.
Ted was born on February 17, 1944, in Batangas City, the Philippines, to Apolonio and Maria Aguilera, both of whom predeceased him. He was the sixth of eight children and is lovingly remembered by his siblings Loring, Tony, Marino, and Fely and was predeceased by his siblings Belly, Pillar, and Lucy.
On January 12, 1969, Ted married Evelyn. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage built on devotion and family. He was a proud and loving father to his two children, Evette (Chris) and Michael (Dayna) and a deeply devoted Lolo to his cherished granddaughters, Keira and Ava, who brought him immense joy.
Ted immigrated to Canada from the Philippines in April 1973. A skilled and hardworking diesel mechanic, he began his career in the Philippines and proudly continued his trade in Canada after earning his licence, working until a car accident forced him to stop working in 1999. He was a dedicated provider for his family and took great pride in his work.
Known for his kindness and generosity, Ted was someone who gave freely of his time and care to others. He was also known by many as Uncle, Tito, and Ninong—roles he embraced with warmth and pride. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, and he and Evelyn were very active in the Filipino community, where he loved socializing and dancing at the many parties and functions they attended. A baseball fan, he enjoyed cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays, and he was always well informed, with a keen interest in politics and current events, rarely missing the news.
Ted was deeply proud of his Filipino heritage and equally proud to be Canadian. His life reflected resilience, hard work, and a genuine love for family and community. He will be remembered for his welcoming smile, his curiosity about the world, and the steady presence he provided to those who loved him.
He came with hope, worked with purpose, and built a life for those he loved. Because of his sacrifices, we stand where we are today.
Ted’s life will be celebrated on December 31, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road in Georgetown. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m., with a memorial gathering immediately afterward.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ted may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
