Sylvia Mason

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Sylvia Mason, who died peacefully on Friday, November 7th, 2025.

Born to Merlin Bent and Harry Marriot on November 17th, 1944, in Bois Content, St. Catherine, Jamaica, Sylvia was the beloved wife and soulmate of Mckival Mason for 60 years. Sylvia was the mother of four children, Maxine, Sharon, Jeffrey and Sharel. She was also the grandmother of Roderick, Janay, Jamie-Lee and Jaden. And finally the great-grandmother of Ace. She will be deeply missed by other family members including sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A deeply faithful woman of the Seventh Day Adventist religion, Sylvia loved God, attending church and being in community with her church family. Sylvia also loved flowers, being in her garden, and helping those in need.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Brampton Civic Hospital for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Sylvia in her final moments.

Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Tuesday November 18th, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service held in the chapel at 11:00 am. Reception to be held in the Trafalgar Room. Interment to follow the reception, at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown at 1:15 pm.
