Susan Anne (Parker) Hood July 19, 1943 – December 10, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Anne (Parker) Hood, who departed this life surrounded by care and dignity at Extendicare Halton Hills in Ontario.

Susan was born on July 19, 1943, in Oakville, Ontario, the beloved daughter of Bill and Isabell (Edwards) Parker. She attended Oakville Trafalgar High School and thereafter embarked on a journey of love, family and service that touched many hearts.

In 1963, Susan married Peter Hood and together they lived in Brampton, Ontario. In 1971 the family settled in Cheltenham, Ontario at “Unicorn House” where Susan became known for her warm hospitality, many family dinners, evenings and the annual Christmas gatherings that brought everyone together. She is predeceased by Peter who passed in November 2021.

Her devotion to her three sons David (Beth Loch), James and Jeffery (Laura) was unwavering. Susan delighted in her grandchildren: Mitchell Hood, Sydney Hood, Joshua (Samantha), Tressym and most recently was blessed with her first great-grandchild Hadrian (Joshua & Sam). She is also survived by her brother Timothy Parker (Mandy and sons Jameson & Brandon), and sister-in-law Nancy and niece Tami. She will also be fondly remembered by the many “adopted” family members who held a special place in her heart: Jeff Johnstone (Sheri, Ava & Aiden), Leanne Cook (Dave, Adam & Daniel), Linda Kontunen (son Ian), and Shabba & Angela Mullins. She is also survived by her god daughter Anthea Morris who held a special place in her heart.

Susan is pre-deceased by her brothers David and Peter Parker and cousin Mary Hogg. She also leaves behind cousins Vicky Hand (Gilliet), John Gosselin and their partners Paul and Susan.

Over the years Susan generously volunteered her time — with her children’s schools, clubs and various community activities always ready to help and a steady presence. In winters she and her father-in-law Donald (Gump) Hood extended their time, care and friendships to the island of Nevis, supporting local events, children and friends whose lives she enriched in her time there.

Susan valued time with family and friends above all finding joy in togetherness, laughter around the table, and the beauty of a shared moment. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the traditions she upheld.

Thanks also to Susan and Peter’s long time friends Barb & Lawrence Boyer, Pat & Ernie Neely, Barb & Don Cook, John & Willa Morse, Dave & Sally Stamper and Edith Schrier who all held important places in Susan’s heart and life.

Susan’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff and care team at Extendicare Halton Hills and The Waterford Barrie, whose compassion and support in Susan’s final years were a blessing.

May Susan rest in peace and may her memory remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the charity of your choice in Susan’s memory.
