Stuart John Garinther, born on August 3, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, passed away peacefully in his home in Georgetown, Ontario, on April 6, 2023. His family and friends are mourning the loss of a kind soul who lived a fulfilling, compassionate life.
The beloved youngest child of Arthur and Ann Garinther, Stuart was the cherished brother of Laura, Ross, Arthur, Earl, and Ann. He was a devoted and loving uncle, and much loved by many nieces and nephews: Cheryl, Andrea, Cynthia, Gregory, Walter, Ron, Jon, Kathy, and Scott. Stuart was also beloved by his grandnieces and grandnephews, Amanda, Lianna, Christopher, Courtney, Sean, Danielle, Jon, Matt, Rebecca, Adam, Nick, Stuart, and Mary. His loving and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Stuart was a man of strong faith, educated by Jesuits, who earned his Bachelor of Commerce at Loyola in Montreal. He was a kind and gentle person who always put others before himself, and his generosity, sense of humour, and warmth touched many lives.
He was passionate about sports, and played hockey, football, and baseball in his youth. He then spent many years refereeing competitive hockey, in addition to coaching football. In his later years he watched sports in person or on TV, and was a proud supporter of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays.
A funeral mass in Stuart's honor will be conducted at 11 am on April 14th, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown, Ontario. May he rest in peace, and his memory live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated.
