Garland, Stephen Thomas

July 2, 1957 - April 29, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of Stephen as the result of a double frontal lobe hemorrhage and major stroke. His family was by his side as he took his last breath.

He was the devoted husband of Susan (Brown) for 42 years. Cherished Dad to Christopher and his partner Annalisa, Brent and his wife Sarah, and adored Grandpa to our precious Sadie. Caring brother to David and Joanne.

Stephen encountered health issues during his shortened life including battling multiple myeloma for the past 7 years. Stephen was a die-hard Maple Leafs fan and never gave up on "his" team. He enjoyed reading, with his favourite authors, Stephen King and Dean Koontz. You could also find him downstairs, in his music room, enjoying listening to his favourite music. He and Susan were fortunate enough to be able to take trips to several destinations and enjoyed their adventures together. Stephen was always "on the go" either walking our two golden retrievers, Piper and Taffy, or venturing out on photographic shoots either on his own or with some of his like-minded friends. In the 80 & 90's, Stephen joined the Georgetown Runners Club. He ran several marathons and 10K races. He also enjoyed cycling and challenged himself to do a 100K trip in one day which he accomplished. Stephen was also an aviation enthusiast attending many air shows over the years. Collecting was one of Stephen's passions. From Coca-Cola memorabilia to diecast cars, double-decker buses, typewriters and a myriad of cameras, lenses and accessories. He had just joined the London camera club and was looking forward to the upcoming meetings and outings.

He will be missed tremendously by our family and the many friends he made along life's journey.

We would like to express our gratitude to the St. Thomas Fire Department, Paramedics and Ambulance crews for their amazing work and to the ICU Staff at STEGH and the CCTC Staff at Victoria Hospital in London for the tremendous care they gave Stephen and the compassion shown to our entire family at such a devastating time.

Funeral service will be held in the chapel at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., Georgetown, On L7G 4S4 on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 3:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you consider a donation to Myeloma Canada, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice.

Rest in Peace Stephen - until we meet again.
