After a valiant struggle against the worst of brain tumours, Shirley left us on the morning of June 15, 2024. She was born in Flint, Michigan on May 2, 1938. She met her loving husband Roger in 1960 at college in Toronto and they had two children, Margaret and Christopher. She leaves behind Roger, Margaret, her husband Trevor, and two grandchildren, Bradley and Kelli. Sadly Christopher passed away in 2009.
She was a wonderful stay at home Mom for many years and also spent time working at the Georgetown Herald newspaper. She was a quiet unassuming person and was very funny when she wanted to be. She had remarkable abilities with her hands and could knit or sew anything, and over the years was involved in many craft shows at Credit Valley Hospital and many local churches where she sold many handmade items. She gave many items to charities at Christmas as well. Many people in the Meadowvale area of Mississauga may have a sample of her work in their homes.
She requested no funeral, and cremation has taken place.
Our family asks that if you would like to honour her in some way that you consider attending your local craft shows when they come to your neighbourhood and support other crafters who love what they do. Donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
