Sharon Faye McCann (née Rogers) - Passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at her home in Georgetown, Ontario at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of the late James “Jim” McCann for 49 years. Dear mother of James (Vicki Campbell), Tracy (Sean Playne), and Jennifer. Proud and devoted grandmother of Jaxon and Kennedy. Sister of Dorothy (Gordon) Mino and Richard “Rick” Rogers.

Sharon is predeceased by her parents, Richard and Esther Rogers (née Paulsen), and by her siblings Jim, Jack, Echo, Norm, and June.

She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A passionate and ferocious reader, Sharon had a lifelong love of books. She was also an exceptionally creative person, a talented artist with a love of oil painting and an avid gardener. Each year, Sharon brought much joy and delight to family and friends with her one-of-a-kind gingerbread houses, crafted from scratch, with love!

Sharon’s dedication to her community reflected the same strength and determination she showed in her family life. She was a nurse at the Bon Air long term care, volunteered with the Cannington Lioness Club, served as a Terry Fox Run organizer for almost 20 years, and worked as a school crossing guard. The staff at Pet Valu in Georgetown fondly referred to her as a “little firecracker,” a nickname that perfectly captured her spirited nature.

Growing up on a houseboat along the Fraser River in British Columbia, Sharon spent her days out on the water, playing on the log booms with her siblings and exploring in “Leaky”, their little boat. It was during those carefree years that her dad gave her the childhood nickname “Inky”.

Sharon always enjoyed the outdoors and often walked the outdoor trails in Georgetown. An immense baseball enthusiast, Sharon also grew up playing baseball and adored watching her favorite team the Blue Jays play.

You could always count on Mom to send cards and letters and to stay connected with family and friends. She had a remarkable talent for whistling - loud and sharp - the unmistakable signal that it was time for the kids to come home. And she may well have been the only mom who knew how to shoot a shotgun from the hip, a skill taught to her by Dad.

We take comfort in knowing that Mom is now enjoying her peace and quiet, walking with the angels and reuniting with her beloved James.

Cremation has taken place. As expressions of remembrance, donations to The Terry Fox Foundation (North Durham Region) or North Halton Kitten Rescue would be appreciated.

The angels have you in their arms and we have you in our hearts.
