Ruby Reed

Reed, Ruby Mary (nee Harris) - Ruby passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Georgetown, at the age of 95 with her family by her side. Ruby was the beloved wife, for 58 years, of the late Ernie Reed and loving mother of Donna (the late Bob) Lamoureux, Bruce (Shirley) Reed and Bonnie Gibson (Bill Forbes). Loving 'Nan' to Rob (Nicole), Doug (Mariette), Erin (Joel), Gayle (Steve), James (Natasha), Nicole (Stephen) and Brooke (Adam). Ruby was a 'Great Nan' to Renee, Joshua, Adam, Ryan, Elyn, Reed, Ellie, Autumn, Charlotte, Luke, Madeleine, Callum and Abigail. Ruby will be remembered for all of her volunteer work. Most notably, she was a member of the Cooksville Legion Branch #582 and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Ruby was dedicated to the 'Veterans' by organizing monthly bingo's in the K Wing of Sunnybrook Hospital, running the Poppy Campaign for 40 years and being the Youth Education Chairperson. As well, Ruby was part of the Girl Guides and a Brown Owl leader for many years. After retirement, Ruby and Ernie were active and volunteered in many different roles at the Norval United Church. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11am at the Norval United Church, 486 Guelph Street, Norval, Ontario, L0P 1K0. A lunch and reception will immediately follow the service at the Church. In memory of Ruby, donations to the building of the new Norval United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
