Robert “Wayne” Compton

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay.

Wayne was the loving husband of Dianne for 32 wonderful years. Proud father of Mike (Gloria) and Scott, and devoted stepfather to Jean-Marc and Jayson (Ingrid). Cherished Grandpa to Matthew and Shane Compton and Lia Douville. He will be deeply missed by his lifelong friends and his many comrades from Royal Canadian Legion Branch 519.

Wayne was a man of quick wit and sharp intellect — so bright he skipped one or two grades in school. He built a long and successful career with Northern Telecom, working his way up to management through dedication and hard work.

He loved life’s simple pleasures: hockey nights, cold beer, curling draws, and afternoons on the golf course. The cottage in Fenelon Falls was his happy place, and in 2008 he and Dianne made it their full-time home. As proud Captain of his pontoon boat, Wayne could often be found cruising the Burnt River in the summer, and enjoying winters in Florida. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved cats.

Family and friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Glen Williams Cemetery.

In memory of Wayne, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Royal Canadian Legion Branch 519.
