Robert Brown

March 8, 1923 — August 18, 2014

Brown, Robert William (March 8, 1923-August 18, 2014)- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Robert William Brown. Dad was born in Sackville, New Brunswick. Dad enlisted in the RCAF in 1941 and was posted in Hagersville, Ont. where he instructed pilots in Morse code. He spent active duty in both England and Africa. Dad married our Mother, Marjorie, in 1947. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1951, as an Electrical Engineer. He began his career as a Junior Engineer at Etobicoke Hydro and retired in 1984, after serving as the General Manager in his final years. Dad was respected as a fair and honest man who enjoyed sitting and having a conversation with a CEO just as much as a labourer on a line crew. After retiring, Mom & Dad enjoyed traveling, spending summers at their trailer in Haliburton and their winters in Florida. We will remember him for his unconditional love, his pure heart, his brilliant mind and his devilish humour. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie, in 2006. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Lynda McLeod (Reid), Donna McKay (Bob) and Marilyn Grieco (Frank), his seven grandchildren: Krysta, Hayley, Perri, Jessica, Ashley, Jenna, Matthew and his great grandchildren: Karlene, Kennedy, Tyler, Alyssa, Madison, Jacob, Benjamin, Zachary, and a little one on the way, that we haven't yet met. We thank the nursing staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, especially Erin and Renee, for their gentle caring toward our Dad and the comfort they gave to our family. Cremation has taken place. There will be a short graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Georgetown, August 28, 2014 at 2:30 p.m., where Dad will join Mom...together again. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Society.
Dad we will miss you forever, and will look at the stars in the sky and know the brightest one is you!
