Richard (Dick) Allman Shannon, P.Eng. - Died peacefully at Georgetown Hospital, Continuing Care, April 7, 2013. Dick was born at Toronto General to Joseph & Lillian Shannon on July 24, 1932. Predeceased by wife Margaret (Peggy) Shannon (nee) MacLaughlan. Dick spent the last 16 years married to loving wife Helen Buckton. Dick was beloved Father of Ted (Bonnie), Jo-Anne, Tom (Melissa) and Step Father of Steve, Dave and Mike (Carol). Loving Grandpa Dick to Kaylee, Patrick, Lillian, Juliet and Colin (Alicia), Derek (Alexandra), Brian, Adam (Jen), Alison (Paul), Alana, Ian and Jessica. Step Great Grandfather of Maisie. Dick graduated from Queen's University as a Civil Engineer in 1956 and went on to work for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation for 31 years. In retirement Dick & Helen enjoyed traveling the world - Paris, Panama, England, Austria, Norway. Dick was known for his love of reading and classical music, particularly Strauss. He brought so much joy, laughter and wisdom to many people's lives. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends, near and far.
A memorial service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 60 Guelph St, Georgetown Wed, April 10, 2013 at 11am.
