Patrick Joseph Bruce

May 1, 1930 — April 13, 2022

Pat Bruce, CMA/CPA, of Georgetown, Ontario passed away peacefully on April 13, 2022 at the Georgetown Hospital.  Predeceased by his beloved son Frank, parents Anthony and Mary Bridget, sisters Mary, Mercedes, Bridget and Regina. Left to mourn are wife Mary (nee Healey) of 67 years, daughters Susan (Hannu), Annie (Clarence), sons Nick (Barb), Gerry (Dee), Robert (Laurie); grandchildren Lee Anne (Doug), Stephen, Miia (Dustin), Mikko, Jacob, Megan, Alex, Carol Ann (John), Kevin (Gillian), Terry (Stephanie); great grandchildren Julia, Kyle, Laurie, Cooper, Katie; nieces Rita (Richard), Bernadette (Darryl), Doris; nephew Joseph; and brother-in-law Francis Healey.
Pat was born in Argentia, Newfoundland on May 1, 1930.  He married Mary Healey in 1955 and proceeded to raise a family.  In 1965 he moved with his family to Toronto to start a new chapter.  Upon arriving in Toronto, he secured an accounting position at Canadian General Electric, where he stayed for 10 years before accepting the position of Chief Accountant at Seneca College; retiring in 1990.
In retirement, he doted lovingly on his grandchildren, the joys of his life, while pursuing other lifelong dreams.  He started searching his family tree which became all consuming.  Pat had a very quick wit, never missing an opportunity to find humour in any situation.  His story telling was legendary; his jokes were ‶improvisation″ at its best.  With mischief in his eyes, that long awaited punchline would finally be delivered.
Pat had a lifelong passion for music and was an accomplished jazz guitarist, playing for many clubs and restaurants in the Toronto area.  His favorite style of music was Latin.  Pat’s prized possession for 65 years was his 1957 Gibson Les Paul Custom Original.  He also played the piano and accordion, entertaining and bringing joy to residents in nursing homes and for family and friends.
Pat will be forever missed by all who knew him.
