Myrelle Rees

d. January 16, 2014

Rees, Myrelle- With sad hearts we announce the passing of Myrelle Marie Noella Rees (nee MARCOUX) of Georgetown, ON, on January 16, 2014. Myrelle was born in Coaticook, Quebec as the second of Albert and Marie Marcoux's six children. She passed away peacefully in Georgetown Hospital with her family close by. Myrelle lived her life in Coaticook until 1943, when she was posted to the Air Force in Alberta. She travelled around Canada with the RCAF until she fell ill with tuberculosis, ending her time with the forces. During her years of hospitalization, she met her husband Stuart Rees, another Air Force veteran who was also on bed rest after falling ill with TB. The two married in February 1951, and had three children. The family moved homes several times over the years to Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto, and the couple decided to enjoy their retirement at Bayshore Village in Brechin, Ontario by Lake Simcoe, and in Port Charlotte Florida. Stuart and Myrelle later moved to Foxboro Green in Baden, Ontario, and following Stuart's passing in 2010, Myrelle moved to Mountainview Terrace in Georgetown, Ontario. She was 92 years old at the time of her passing. Myrelle will be remembered for her strong spirit, sharp intellect, and kind heart. She loved to travel, and with her husband in tow she travelled the world over the course of her life. Myrelle loved bridge, nature, and social events, rendering herself very popular everywhere she lived. Most of all Myrelle loved her family, and will be missed dearly by her three children, Christine (John) Rossi of Sault St. Marie, Don (Laura) Rees of Ballinafad, and Carol (Ralph) Knoll of Mississauga, as well as her eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Michelle, Jessica, Marcus, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Haleigh, and Bethany. She is survived by her sister Pierrette St-Pierre, and brother Denis Marcoux. There is no visitation scheduled, but in lieu of flowers, if you wish to do so, donations in Myrelle's name can be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the CASHH (Cancer Assistance Service Halton Hills) at Mountainview Terrace in Georgetown. 222 Mountainview Road, North Georgetown ON L7G 3R2 A private family memorial will be held in the spring. Messages of condolences can be sent to www.jsjonesandsonfuneralhome.com
The family wishes to thank the medical staff at Georgetown Hospital for their care and consideration of Myrelle during her stay.
