(1926-2013)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Myles Gilson at the Georgetown Hospital on January 15th, 2013, in his 87th year. Beloved husband 60 years of June (nee Henry). Loving father of Lynn (Bill Barnstaple), Leanne (Kevin Kemp) and Laverne (Roger Brown). Proud Grandpa of David (Katrina), Sara, Michael, Ruth, Matthew, Victoria, Michelle, Kimberley and Jason. Great-Grandpa of Logan, Nathan, Brennan and Allora. Myles was born in Thornbury, Ontario on December 22, 1926. Myles and June and two small children moved from Markdale to Georgetown in 1960, where he took up a position with the Georgetown Herald newspaper and remained working there until his retirement in 1991. Myles loved photography and always carried his camera with him. There were many activities and interests Myles enjoyed throughout his lifetime. Some of which were; baseball coach, playing hockey, skating, member of the Halton Hills Camera Club, member of the Georgetown Vintners Wine Club, lawn bowling, volunteering at Wastewise, his flower garden and travelling to Tennessee (he was a country and western fan). Myles was also a faithful follower throughout the years of the Georgetown Raiders Hockey Club and Halton Hills Bull Dogs Junior "B" Lacrosse Team. Many thanks from the family, to the nurses in the Continuing Care Unit at the Georgetown Hospital for their care and support. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all those lives he touched over the years. May he now rest in peace.
Family and friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Friday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday January 19th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
