Michael John Monckton

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael John Monckton, who passed away peacefully with family by his side at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood, on March 25, 2025. Born to the late Arthur and Dorothy Monckton, Mike lived a life filled with love, adventure, and devotion to his family.

Loving partner and best friend for 50 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Kathy (nee Gill), Mike was a dedicated and cherished father to Christine Monckton (Jesse Eno) and Kim Monckton (Alex Haire). He was the proud and adoring Grandad to Bodhi, Aiden, and Daniel, who brought him immeasurable joy. Known for his playful spirit, endless pockets full of candy, and his tendency to bend the rules for his grandchildren, Mike’s love and laughter will be deeply missed.

Dear brother of Frank (Doris), Carol (the late Neri), Art (Vida), and the late Dave Monckton, Mike was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also dearly loved by all of Kathy’s siblings and their families, who held a special place in his heart.

Mike found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was fishing, boating, or spending time at the family cottage in Bracebridge. He was happiest sitting by the fire, sharing stories, and embracing his goofy, fun-loving nature. His legendary moustache and warm presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11 a.m., with cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory can be made to Campbell House Hospice. His family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care he received.

Mike’s warmth, humour, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
