Mavis Eastwood

March 22, 1941 — February 16, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mavis Eastwood. Born in Huddersfield, England in 1941, Mavis immigrated to Canada with her husband Rodney in 1969. They built a wonderful life together. Mavis died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones and the caring staff at Amica Georgetown at the age of 82.

Mavis was predeceased by her parents, John and Emily, her brother Stephen, and her daughter Gail. She is survived by her beloved husband Rodney, and her son Stephen (Kelly). Mavis was a loving Nana to Gabby, Jordan, Tyler, Paige and Adam.

Mavis was an avid traveler, and together with Rodney they visited more than one hundred countries. She climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at the age of 70, and raised awareness and funding for cancer research at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket.

Mavis made an impression on everyone she met. Her infectious laugh lit up a room and her huge personality connected her with people of all ages everywhere she went.

Cremation has taken place. At Mavis’ request, instead of a funeral, A Celebration of Life will take place in Georgetown at The George Pub on Sunday March 24th from 1:30-4PM. Please join us in raising a toast to Mavis. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a contribution to the Alzheimers Society of Halton, or to a charity of your choice. We hope that you can join us in raising a glass to Mavis, and sharing your favourite stories with her.
