It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Mate Burazin in his 85th year on February 4, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Mate leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 60 years Milenka, children Zdravko, Branko (Kimberly) and daughter Mirjana (Frano) and grandchildren who he loved beyond measure, Nikolina, Johnny, Bryce and Ella.
Mate also leaves behind his brother Vice, sister Marija and remaining family, kumovi and friends.
Mate was born in Cista Velika, Imotski in Croatia on August 7, 1939. In search of a better life, he and his family emigrated to Canada in 1968. They settled in Mississauga in 1972 where as a family they shared many happy years. In order to be closer to their children and grandchildren they moved to Georgetown.
Mate will be most remembered for cracking jokes even through his most difficult days. He loved Croatia and was fiercely proud to be Croatian.
Mate loved to watch his beloved Hajduk and HNS play soccer. He loved to garden and enjoyed spending time in his garage or just sitting in the sun on his porch.
At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Yani, Dr. Huang , Dr. Zilbert, Patti McDougall and his nurse Ruth who over his last years provided him with exceptional care and comfort through his most difficult days.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Wednesday February 7th from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with Parish Prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Croatian Martyrs Parish, 4606 Mississauga Road, Mississauga on Thursday February 8th at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Georgetown.
In memory contributions to the Croatian Martyrs Parish would be appreciated.
