Maria Araujo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria DePonte Araujo, who left us on November 2, 2024, at Georgetown Hospital at the age of 90. Maria was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished Avó, and Biz Avó, whose vibrant spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.

Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Manuel and her son Joao. She is survived by her devoted children: Victoria Medeiros (Humberto), Fatima Attard (Sam Panetta), Bella Lionti (Charlie), and Bill Araujo (Rochelle). As a proud Avó she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Jeff Medeiros, Michelle Medeiros, Jonathan Araujo, Jennifer Hutchens, Natalie Araujo, Kyle Attard, Josh Lionti, Kayla Lionti, Julian Araujo, and Jacob Araujo. She was also a beloved Biz Avó to many great-grandchildren: Owen, Brayden, Makayla, Sienna, Tessa, Liam, Jenha, Keirha, Maddie, Haven, Gia, Summer, Rain, Aiden, Lily Rose, and Ethan.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown. Following the service, Maria will be laid to rest at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Mississauga.

Maria's life was a testament to her strong faith, kindness, and love for her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
