Lewis Stevenson

d. August 10, 2022

Lewis passed away on the morning of Wednesday August 10, 2022, while sleeping peacefully in the backyard he loved so much. Dear husband and best friend of 50 years to Dale, and loving father to Spence (Sarah Jane) and Kim (John). Very proud grandfather of Autumn, Baillie (Jackson), Ryan (Alex), Lily and Aliya. Great grandfather to Connor, Emilia and Austin. Much-loved brother of Greg (Jeff). Predeceased by his parents Gladys and George, and siblings Helen and Kenny.

Lewis loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He was loyal and generous with his time and energy to his community and many friends. Everyone knew they were always welcome to stop in, either through the front door, or the side gate for a chat, a swim, a beer and some laughs. In the summer, getting to experience all four was not uncommon. Lew made friends wherever he went. His genuine interest in getting to know people was endearing and always made newcomers feel welcome. He was happiest at home, with Dale, enjoying the yard they created, and the house they made a home.

Lewis was a neighbour, a father, a mentor, but most of all, Lew was a friend. He will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

A private family service to be held in Ottawa at a later date.

In remembrance of Lewis’ life, the family ask that any charitable donations be made to The Halton Down Syndrome Association.Love is friendship that has caught fireIt is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good times and bad.It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.Love is content with present, it hopes for the future, and doesn't brood over the past. It's the day-in and day-out chronicles of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories, and common goals. If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack.If you don't have it, not matter what else there is, it's not enough.
