Julius Rupanovits was born in Austria on April 20th, 1943 as a Burgenland Croat, a tenth child to his father Anton and mother Maria. Julius arrived in Canada in 1968 at the age of 25. He came by himself and managed his way in life on his own. Julius was a licensed mechanic, he worked for Alpine Motors for a very long time. He was a member of the Queen of Peace Parish, Croatian Franciscan Centre since the day they were founded. He was an active member who volunteered for many years as a mechanic, donor, and supporter. When Julius came to Canada, he was followed by his brother Steve Rupanovits whom he leaves behind, along with three living siblings in Austria. Sister Helena Pokomandy, Josefa Maly and brother Josef Rupanovits, and their extensive families. Julius married Marija in 1976. The two had no children yet were surrounded with their nieces and nephews who became like their own. Nieces Ružica Badrov, Dražena Kelava, and Marija Kelava and their families and nephew Peter Cavar, grew to love, cherish, and spend all holidays, birthdays, anniversaries together, as one big family. He was loved by his other Nieces and nephews in Austria and Croatia.
Julius lived a very humble and noble life. Always ready to lend a helping hand and encouraging word.
He will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at the Queen Of Peace Church, 9118 Winston Churchill Blvd, Norval on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery and then a reception will be held at the Queen Of Peace Church Hall.
