Jose Alberto Goncalves

Jose Alberto Goncalves, of Georgetown, passed away at the Bethell Hospice on Thursday June 20th, 2024, at the age of 69, after a 3-year battle with cancer.

He was fondly known as Jojo to many of his close ones.

Jo was born on December 1st, 1954, in Formoso, Portugal. His predeceased parents were Grace Goncalves (born Pires) and Antonio Goncalves, and he was one of four children. He came to Canada with his family when he was 7 years old and spent his childhood in Toronto, later moving to Streetsville.

He is survived by his partner of 30 years Brydie Drake, his brother Tony and his sister Sally. He was predeceased by his brother Jo. He was also uncle to many nieces and nephews. His will also be greatly missed by Siegfriedt and Drake families.

Jo worked 36 years in the industrial printing industry. In his free time, he could be seen hiking, biking, camping, and spending time on the beach. He often showed his artistic side through various paintings and drawings. He really enjoyed Classic cars and watching Sunday afternoon Nascar races.

Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation will follow. Reception in the Trafalgar Room at Jones Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Bethell Hospice would be appreciated.
