John Murray Somers, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on February 7, 1938, John was the cherished son of Dave and Eileen Somers. He was a man of unwavering faith, dedication, and kindness.

A loving husband to Caroll, John cherished their many years together. He was a proud father to his son Scott and a devoted grandfather to Olivia and Jackson, who brought immense joy to his life. He was also a beloved brother to Neil, Laurie, Anne, Keith, Lynda, Leona, Larry, and Gerry, sharing a lifetime of memories and deep familial bonds.

John dedicated much of his professional life to Chrysler, where he was a loyal and hardworking employee. Beyond his career, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, contributing to his community and living by his values of service and compassion.

John will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast dedication to his family, and his enduring faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd, Georgetown. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 5, at 10:30 AM at Holy Cross Parish, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society in John’s memory. The family also encourages everyone to take a moment to hug your loved ones—a simple yet powerful gesture that meant so much to John.
