With great sadness, we announce the passing of John Pennock on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his home in Georgetown.
John was born in Bancroft in 1947 to the late Lorne and Annie Pennock. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Lorna, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. John was a proud and caring father to David and Marcia (Jay), and a cherished grandfather to Parker. He will also be deeply missed by his sister Joan Card (Dennis), nieces Rhonda Card and Lisa Card (and their families), as well as many cousins and extended family in Holland.
A graduate of John F. Ross Collegiate Institute and Conestoga College, John dedicated 47 years of his career as a valued and respected employee of Varian/CPI.
John was a smart, calm, meticulous, creative, and inventive man—known equally for his kindness, gentleness, loyalty, and honesty. His many interests included model trains, remote-control airplanes, photography, and working on his lathe. With great care and imagination, John transformed the family yard into a true paradise for Marcia, including building a beloved playhouse that reflected his thoughtful craftsmanship and love as a father.
He was a constant and enthusiastic supporter of David’s passion for film, proudly attending festivals and sharing in that creative journey. John also enjoyed many adventures with Lorna and friends, including numerous Porter flights and memorable Mustang cruises.
A Memorial Service will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel.
John was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, who will remember him for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and the many ways he showed his love through his actions.
