John "Larry" May

With much sadness, we share the news of the unexpected death of John ‘Larry’ May on July 17, 2025.

Larry will be deeply missed.

Loved husband of Valda (Royce). Larry & Val were partners in life for over 55 years. Larry was very proud of his children – Lesley, Wes, Tom and Garrett – and of their spouses – Karl, Valerie and Kate. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren – John, Julia, Jessica and Jason, Edwin and Wesley. He loved to get updates and pictures of what each of his grandchildren were up to.

Larry’s world revolved around his family, his work, his garden -a farmer at heart. He was a very proud and appreciative colleague of all staff – current and past – of Maple Lodge Farms. Still working up to last week – Larry had no intention of retiring. Larry was also a devoted chauffeur – and in some circles – was only known as ‘Tom’s Dad’. Larry, Tom and the ‘1927 Depot Hack’ travelled to Steam Era events and parades in Acton & Georgetown over many years. Larry managed to keep each of the above as a priority in his life.

Larry was born on January 14, 1950 – first born of the late Jack & Jean (Chester) May of Norval. Dear brother and friend to Wendy Robson and Susan Grant and in-laws – Bob Robson and Dave Grant. Good friend and brother-in-law to the late John and Bev Feenstra. He will also be missed by cousins, nieces and nephews from the Royce, May and Chester families.

We take solace in the knowledge that with Larry’s death – he offered a chance for better health to others through the Trillium Gift of Life Network.

Visitation to take place on Friday, July 25 – 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., Georgetown, On. A private family funeral will follow.
