It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Daley, age 94, who left us peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Georgetown. Born in England, John lived a life full of love, creativity, and dedication to his family.
John was the beloved husband of Jean for 68 wonderful years. Together, they raised their children Kim (Dale Boyd) and the late Paul Daley, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and love of family. He was a proud grandfather to Candace (Dean), Courtney (Jamie), Cole, Caitlin, Adam (April), Stephen, Sean (Shauna), and cherished great-grandfather to Taylor, John, Gordon, Elliot, Enid, Jane, Rhett, Louie, Ruby, and Arlo.
A gifted artist and carver, John’s creativity was matched only by his dedication to his work at Varian. His artistic talents were a source of joy for his family and a legacy that will live on through their memories.
John proudly served in the British Royal Navy during his youth, and was a veteran of the Korean War, a testament to his spirit of service and adventure. In 1960, he and Jean made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada, bringing with them their two young children and a dream of a new life. This bold move was just one example of his unwavering commitment to family and the pursuit of a better future.
John is survived by his sisters in England, Rena and Ann, who will miss him dearly.
In honor of John’s life, the family invites you to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown. A reception will follow to share stories and memories of a man who touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association and the Sick Kids Foundation, causes that were dear to John's heart.
