Anderson, John Millard -April 21, 1940-June 1, 2016
With sad hearts we say "goodbye" to a dear husband, father, grandfather, and brother. John Anderson was born April 21, 1940 in Timmins, Ontario to the late Christian and Rose Anderson and big brother to Sharon Maria Vitouladitis (Spyros). Beloved husband for almost 50 years to Jean Anderson (McDonald) and son-in-law to the late George and Margaret McDonald. Devoted father to Paul Anderson (Sandy Vandermeulen) and Kim Wang (George), proud grandfather and Papa to Benjamin, Hannah and Joshua (and his mom Julie Anderson). John also leaves behind a loving extended family and many friends, all who will miss him dearly.
John attended Eastern Pentecostal Bible College in Peterborough, Ontario in 1959 and 1974. After retiring in 2005, he and Jean moved to British Columbia to volunteer for Light of the World Ministries and Dunamis Ministry. They recently returned to Ontario and settled in the Georgetown area to be closer to their family, leaving behind many dear friends in BC, but quickly forging many new and dear friendships and passion for new local ministries.
John's love and passion for people, especially those who are struggling or marginalized caused him to always go the extra mile to serve and offer support and advice. He loved adventure to the very end and will always be remembered by those who know and love him best, as a man with a fun sense of humor, an eternally optimistic personality, and he was never afraid to learn or try something new.
His passing was sudden and tragic to those he has left behind, but we take comfort in knowing that his love and deep faith in Jesus Christ will live on as his legacy. And we rejoice that he is with his Lord and Savior, and we will meet him again one day soon.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 A Time for Everything "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance..."
Friends will be received at the Maple Avenue Baptist Church (177 Maple Ave., Georgetown) on Wednesday June 8th, 2016 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maple Avenue Baptist Church Training Fund or another local charity such as CASHH would be appreciated.
