Obituary

JAMES BERNARD WILLIAM MYLER

October 10, 1941 – May 29, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Myler at age 84, son of Isabelle and Bernard Myler and little brother to Deanna MacKay. Jim leaves behind his wife of 56 years Loraine and son Jim, his wife Nicole and granddaughter D’Arcy. He was a trustworthy, loyal man who worked through his issues with intelligence and humour.

Jim lived life on his own terms. Although he used to say the three worst words in the English language were “back to school,” he taught himself about everything from the ancient world to his love of flight. When asked, he would share his knowledge but hoped others would take the time to study and find their truth.

He would take his friend Harald on many road trips. Harald said Jim taught him a little local history as they visited places like the Bonneville Salt Flats, Cody Wyoming or the Reno Air Races, never needing a map to find the next spot or a tourist book to give a little local history. Jason and Jim often ended up laughing when the best-laid construction plans resulted in a repetitively smashed thumb. Jim and Jennifer would share their thoughts on stocks and of course gold. And so on...

Jim and Loraine were able to travel the world including Australia, Europe, the USA and Aruba. In the past year, Jim’s hearing and mobility was lost. He saw the events of the world through the TV and was concerned for the next generation.
