Jennie Blekkenhorst

The Lord in his perfect timing took home to himself, his beloved child, our precious mother, Jennigje (Jennie) Blekkenhorst, on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Grace Manor in Brampton, Ontario. Born on November 14, 1936 in Den Ham, Overijssel, The Netherlands, she was the oldest of five children born to Egbert and Aaltje Melenboer. She married Gerrit Jan (John) Blekkenhorst on March 20, 1958 and immigrated to Canada with him, leaving her home and family behind.
Jennie was the loving wife of Gerrit John Blekkenhorst for 63 years, and devoted mother to John (Rhea) Blekkenhorst, Alice (Timothy) Scheepstra, Diana (Barry) Bonvanie, Ed (Taylore) Blekkenhorst, Jenny (William) Van Caulart and Jasper (Cynthia) Blekkenhorst. Cherished Oma to Jenna, Luke, Andrea, Reuben, Hannah, Curtis, Nathan, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah, Joycelin, Levi, Daylen and McKenna, and great grandmother to 14 precious little ones.
Jennie was a kind, energetic, busy, creative woman who put the needs of others before her own. She will be deeply missed by her family in Canada, and also by her sisters in the Netherlands, Alie (Dick) Kamphuis and Hennie (Sipke) van der Heide, and all of their children, her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Jan Hendrick and Dirk.
Due to covid restrictions, there will be a private visitation at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 which will be live streamed. Please follow the link on the funeral home's website, also posted below. A private graveside service will follow. Friends wishing to express their condolences to Jennie's husband, John, are encouraged to do so in person by arranging a visit with him at Grace Manor in Brampton, throughout the summer.
