Jean Mae Cosway (nee Gorle)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Mae Cosway on March 8th, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Nina), great-grandmother and friend, who touched the lives of many with her kindness and warmth.

Jean was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, William (Bill) Thomas Cosway. She leaves her love imprinted on her children, Steven (Nancy), Kelly (Michael), Laura (Giuliano), and James (Sharon) who will honour and cherish her always. Her love for her grandchildren knew no limits; Matthew, Benjamin, Victoria, Ashley, Mikayla and Megan will forever miss their Nina’s love and Shelley and Shannon will hold dear their Grandma’s memories. Her spirited nature will live on in her great-grandchildren Violet, Jaxson, Adam, Adisyn, Connor, Kaitlyn, Owen and Liam.

Jean was the loving daughter of the late Alfred and Annie Gorle and sister to the late Carol, Peggy and John. She was the caring daughter-in-law of the late Fred and Evelyn Cosway. Jean will be fondly remembered by her sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jean grew up in Weston, meeting the love of her life, Bill, while working at Dominion. Together they raised their children while also supporting the young lives of many. Jean later returned to the workforce and enjoyed working alongside her sister and daughters while nurturing new friendships with colleagues. Jean concluded the final chapter of her professional career as a Director of Finance, retiring at the young age of 75.

Jean’s legacy is one of love, strength, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her; she was “one special lady”.

Friends will be received at Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905)877-3631 on Friday March 14th from 10 am to 12 noon. Funeral service will be held in the chapel directly following. Interment Meadowvale Cemetery.
