With full hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janice Lee Orr, on Monday December 1st, 2025 at Bethell Hospice, Inglewood, at the age of 77. She left this world after a courageous year-long journey with cancer - a year in which she drew deeply on her strong faith and squeezed every last drop of joy, laughter, music, and love from life.
Known for her radiant smile, contagious laughter, and the song that so often floated from her lips, Janice brought warmth into every room she entered. Her kindness and generosity were not mere traits, they were her way of moving through the world. Her faith was her steady compass, guiding her through life's challenges and giving her the strength to lift others up.
Janice will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Guy Orr; her son David Fuller (Erin Gundlack Fuller); her daughters Donna Lee (Tim Smith) and Marilyn Kowalski; her granddaughters Emily Fuller and Natasha Bagh St. Dennis (Derek St. Dennis); and her great-grandson Theo Bagh St. Dennis. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Sue Morrison, Shirley Corkum, and Joanne Wheelan, along with all her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her sister Linda Miner and her brother Bob Wheelan, whose memories she carried with her always.
Her absence will be felt by the countless friends, neighbours, and loved ones whose lives she improved in endless ways. She faced her final year with remarkable grace, buoyed by her unwavering belief, her love for her family, and her determination to live fully in every moment. Her legacy is one of laughter, kindness, resilience, and faith.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday December 5th at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in the Trafalgar Room. Cremation to take place.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Bethell Hospice, in recognition of the extraordinary care they provided in her final month, or to 4Grow, the charity she co-founded and chaired to support women and children in Uganda-an organization that reflects her deep compassion and commitment to helping others.
