James Panabaker

d. August 5, 2014

PANABAKER, James Paul MD - At the Blind River District Health Centre on Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Dr. Paul Panabaker in his 80th year, beloved husband of Joanne (MacIver/Ukos) Panabaker. Predeceased by his first wife Margaret and his brother Norman Panabaker. Loving father of Carolyn Charbonneau (Fabien) of Campbellville, Timothy (Tina) of Etobicoke, David (Lorraine) of Georgetown, James of Sudbury and John (Susan) of Woodstock. Special Grandpa to Joelle, Andre, Jake, Mitchell, Julia, Marissa, Emily and Lillian. Paul will be sadly missed by the Panabaker and MacIver families, and his many nieces and nephews. Born in Hespler Ontario, Paul attended Preston High School and later the University of Toronto, where he graduated from medical school in 1960. During that same year he married his first wife Margaret. Following his internship he started his practice in Georgetown, where he and Margaret settled to raise their children Carolyn, Tim and David. Paul had a great love for practicing medicine and had a very loyal family practice in Georgetown for 40 years. A few years after the passing of Margaret in 1987, he met and married Joanne (Ukos) extending the family with Joanne's sons James and John. Upon retirement, he and Joanne moved to Blind River where they resided on the shores of the North Channel for the remainder of Pauls's life. It was here Paul was quoted in saying " I have found a little bit of heaven on earth". During the early years in Blind River he enjoyed doing locums for the Blind River Family Health Team. During his retirement years, he enjoyed crafting woodworking projects for his grandchildren, family and neighbors as well as exploring his passion for fishing, reading and painting. His compassion and humour and his love of life will be greatly missed and graciously rejoiced. A Memorial Service to honour and celebrate the life of Paul will be held on Friday September 5, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Knox Presbyterian Church, 116 Main St S. Georgetown.
