Loved surrounded Irwin Maxwell Shaw, and as family sang …"Jesus Loves me - Loves me still - though I'm very weak and ill - From His shining Throne on high - Comes to take me where I lie"… His Lord and Saviour welcomed him home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. With all our love and wonderful memories we must say goodbye for now to Irwin - loving and devoted husband to Doreen (nee Ferrier) for 65 years; The best Dad to Susan (Robert) and Deb (the late Tom) and amazing Grandpa to Melissa (Adam), Shawn (Jen), Kyle (Carmen), Ryan (Kassie), Michelle (Reese) and cherished Great Grandpa to 11, soon to be 12, great grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
Irwin loved life. Sports, music, dance; an avid Blue Jays fan from day one and was a real people person. He and Doreen enjoyed their "Happy Hour" times every Friday. His retirement peers nicknamed him 'Mr. Wonderful'…and he was to all who knew him.
88 years old, Irwin suffered long with Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease. He bore this affliction with courage, dignity and humour. He was always a gentleman, tender-hearted and deeply appreciative to all for the care and support he was given. Heartfelt thanks to Parklane Terrace, Telfer Place and Brantford General Hospital ER, 7th floor and CCU staff for treating Irwin like your own family. Special thanks to Pastor Ralph Meiszinger for his care, concern and comforting reassurance. To Pastor John MacPhail, who was more like a son to Irwin, we owe a debt of gratitude that words cannot express. To everyone who journeyed with us, Doreen, Deb, Sue and Robert, we owe our deepest gratitude for all your constant caring, love, support and encouragement. We are so blessed.
Friends will be received at the J.S.
