It is with sadness that we announce Irma's sudden passing at Milton District Hospital on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the age of 75. Beloved wife to Horst Bernhardt for almost 52 years. Devoted mother to Astrid (spouse Bob Mitchell) and Frank (spouse Edie George) and Oma to Michael. She is survived by her sister Erna Jahn. Irma came to Canada in 1961 from Germany to build a better life. She was a dedicated employee with long service at both Kodak Canada and the Halton District School Board . Before the onset of Alzheimers, she took great pleasure in cooking for her family and enjoying her rose garden. Therein lie the simple lessons of her life: enjoy meals together as a family, and stop to smell the roses. In her memory, enjoy flowers at your own dining table. In recognition for the wonderful care she received from the nursing team, "In Memory" contributions to Allendale Long-Term Care Home (185 Ontario Street South, Milton, Ontario L9T 2M4) would be appreciated. Following cremation, a closed service will be held for immediate family only.
