Hiltje "Hilly" Vandermeer

Hilly passed away peacefully at Grace Manor in Brampton on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 94. She was born on August 13, 1924, the daughter of Siebe and Dirkje Alkema (VanderGalien) in Murmerwoude, Friesland, The Netherlands. She leaves behind her children Klaas and Ruth, Siebe and Ivy, Dorothy and Harry VanSpronsen, Sye and Elly, Janet and Mike Hunnersen, and Harry and Sandra, and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her much loved husband, Jacob (Jac.) in 2002, and by all of her sisters and brothers in the Netherlands. Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home. 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Hilly’s Life will be held at a later date. To honour Hilly’s memory, donations to Halton Hills Christian School or to Grace Manor would be greatly appreciated.
