Herbert Franz Novak

Herbert died peacefully just after noon hour on April 1, 2025 two months prior to his 81st birthday. Originally from Vienna, Austria he immigrated to Canada. Reunited with his love of 40 years, Colleen, he is survived by his daughter, Nicholl and son-in-law, Scott. His son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Jennifer. His two grandsons, Kyle and Benjamin.

Although his documented profession was Steel Pipe Fitter, he retired as a Maintenance Mechanic. His ability to learn and then fix anything is a skill he passed on to his children and grandchildren and he loved sharing his knowledge of mechanics and work stories with Kyle and Ben. You could always find Herb fixing, assembling, making and just “doing” anything with a motto, There is no such word as “can’t”, only “won’t”.

In his final moments, Herbert was enveloped in a quiet room of love, compassion and admiration.

His infectious laugh and jovial sense of humour will forever live on in all the wonderful stories we are able to tell. All due to this wonderful man with a huge personality and heart.
