Helen Mcneil

Helen Elizabeth McNeil February 02, 1925 to August 6, 2022 Forever loving and loved, it is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen McNeil, at the age of 97, on August 6, 2022, at Extendicare Halton Hills. Predeceased by treasured husband Lloyd McNeil (1997) and adored daughter Peggi McNeil (2014). Helen will be dearly missed, and her special memory cherished forever, by daughter Nanci McNeil-Llewellyn, son-in-law Mark Llewellyn, son-in-law Rob Clipperton (Peggi), grandson Joshua Clipperton, granddaughter Drew Clipperton (Mike Saray) and great grandsons Mason and Finnley. Helen will also be fondly remembered by numerous extended family members and friends throughout Ontario and Ireland. She was always in her glory when surrounded by the ones she loved. Helen and Lloyd were married in 1946 and raised Peggi and Nanci in Streetsville until they moved to Stewarttown in 1968. Helen worked in a variety of administrative support positions and retired as a Legal Aid Assessor. Helen lived a full life in retirement via her involvement in many community activities, including being a founding member of the Georgetown Distress Centre, president/board member for the Georgetown Senior's Centre (now Hillsview), a member of SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together), an active member of St. Andrew's United Church and an associate of numerous lodge affiliations. Helen was an avid and very competitive Scrabble and euchre player. She also enjoyed attending theatre, crocheting, scenery painting, crafts, canning preserves and, of course, garage sales. One of Helen's greatest joys was summering at her family's Green Lake cottage. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Extendicare Halton Hills, particularly the amazing Ballinafad Unit staff, and Dr. Lim for taking such compassionate care of Helen. Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Monday August 15, 2022 from 3 p.m. until time of celebration of Helen's life in the chapel at 4 p.m. Reception and further visitation to follow in the Trafalgar Room from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Foundation or the Hillsview Active Living Centre, Georgetown would be appreciated.
