Harold "Hal" Ridley

February 21, 1942 — April 22, 2023

Harold “Hal” George Ridley - passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Milton General Hospital at the age of 81.


Hal was born in London, Ontario, to parents Leonard and Marjorie Ridley. He developed a passion for sports at a young age. He excelled in baseball and was a natural coach, guiding many young players to success.


After completing his education, Hal began his teaching career with the Peel Board of Education, where he taught for over 35 years. He was a dedicated and passionate teacher who loved his job. He had a remarkable ability to connect with his students, inspiring and motivating them to do their best.


Hal's other great passion was slo-pitch, a sport he played well into his 80’s. He was a fierce competitor and was well-respected among his peers for his sportsmanship and skill.


When he wasn't on the diamond, Hal loved to fish and camp. He would spend hours on the water, casting his line and enjoying the peaceful serenity of nature. He was also an avid camper, and he enjoyed exploring the great outdoors with his family and friends.


Hal will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Janette; his children, Jennifer (Bryan Krafczek), David (The late Dee Dee), and Debbie (Jeremy Slater); his grandchildren, Mitchell (Edward), Nicholas (Kristin), Katelynn, Lucas, and by his mother-in-law Irene Kemp. Hal is predeceased by his grandson Christopher. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many other family members.


In Hal’s memory, donations can be made to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation.
