Gerhard "Gerry" Hacke

Hacke, Gerhard “Gerry” Alfred – Passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Janey for 44 years. Loving father of the late Gwen (forever son-in-law Brian), Cornel (Kathy), Collette (Rob) Rodgers, Eric (Daria), and Ian (Alyssa). Proud grandfather of Amanda, Troy, Brandon, Kyle, Jack, Byron, and Willow, and great-grandfather to Archer.

Gerry is predeceased by his parents, Hugo and Elli, and his sister, Gerda. He will be deeply missed by his sister, Ilse (Alfred); his brother-in-law, Ross; Jana; his nieces, Kristina, Sabine, and Alyssa; and his nephew, Byron, as well as his dear family in Germany. He will also be fondly remembered by his good friend, Lanny Huff, who first introduced him to Janey. And his friend Erhardt Zach, with whom Gerry completed his technical apprenticeship in Germany.

Born and raised in Germany, Gerry had a passion for travel. He first moved to Canada in 1961.

Gerry was meticulous, hardworking, and always believed in doing things “the right way, the first time.” A skilled builder, he constructed his own home and had a deep love for model airplanes and boats— even building a full-sized boat while living in Germany.

An avid nature enthusiast, Gerry was a strong swimmer and enjoyed swimming with Janey. They spent many summers with Janey’s family in Saskatchewan and cherished their time at their trailer in Parry Sound.

Over the years, Gerry and Janey shared their lives with three beloved golden retrievers. Together, they also built Respan, an independent Canadian company dedicated to providing respiratory products for the healthcare industry. And shared a love of adventure, sailing, and travel, including many trips to Germany to visit family and visit historical sites.

Gerry will be remembered for his dedication, adventurous spirit, and the love he had for his family and friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A memorial will be held in the chapel at 2 p.m. to honour Gerry’s life. A reception will be held following the service.
