George Ohashi

Passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital on June 11, 2017. George was born on December 19, 1930 to Yoshino (nee Nakagawa) and Gengo Ohashi. George married the love of his life Minnie Yoshihara (d. 2013) in November 1959. He worked at Canada Mortgage and Housing for thirty years travelling to various parts of Canada as an auditor. He was active in the Kinsmen and Lions clubs in Ottawa. Budget chairman of Bell Street United church, bowled at Walkley Lanes until he and Minnie moved to Georgetown to be closer to their grandchildren. Once in Georgetown, George continued to volunteer and was given the Lifetime Member of Lions in recent years. He will be greatly missed by Glenn (Nolle) his two grandsons Mark and Adam, and Gerald (Cathy). George was honourary granddad to eight who will miss him greatly. We want to take this opportunity to thank the neighbours who called 911 in January. A huge thank you to Rev. Grant Williams of St. Andrew's United Church and Pastor Doug Kelley of Georgetown Alliance Church for their compassion and support. Thank you to all the friends who visited George while he was in hospital, you brightened his days. And thank you, to the nurses on 1D and 0A1 at Credit Valley hospital, your care of our dad was exceptional.
Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Ave., Georgetown, (905)877-3631 on Friday July 7 at 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. In memory, contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation or the Lions Foundation (Guide dogs) would be appreciated.
