Evelyn Theresa Brannigan

September 30, 1916 - January 19, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Brannigan (Murphy) at Extendicare Halton Hills. Beloved wife of the late Michael Brannigan for 49 years (passed 1987) and cherished mother of Marie Simpson and grandmother of Michael Simpson (Athena). Loving sister of James Murphy (Teresa). Predeceased by brothers Joe and Matthew and sisters Carmel, Kay, Maisie and Lilly. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Evelyn came to Canada from Ireland in 1953 by boat and settled in Toronto before moving to Georgetown to be close to family. Evelyn worked at T. Eaton Company for 25 years prior to retiring. After retirement, she continued her love of gardening, knitting, crocheting and reading. She volunteered at Birthright in Milton for a short time and at the Georgetown Hospital Gift Shop and Reception Desk. Evelyn was a very prayerful individual. She prayed the Rosary every day of her life. Her love for Mary was very evident. Visitation will take place at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905)877-3631 on Sunday January 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Road, Georgetown at 10:00 am. on Monday January 23, 2017. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown. Reception to follow in Cote Hall
