Esther Jane Cameron,
Esther passed away quietly at Georgetown Hospital on the afternoon of Sunday, February 3rd, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Far too early she lost her loving and devoted husband and only love of her life, William (Bill) Cameron, who pre-deceased her in 1974. Esther is survived by those she brought into the world and their children. Deeply loved and appreciated to the end were son Brian (and wife Kerri), daughters, Deborah, Christine (and husband Matthew), Tracy (and husband Neil), as well as the grandchildren she was so very proud of and loved so very much, Justin, Ryan, Kayla, Courtney and Colleen.
Born in Scotland and just entering her teens, she was a brave survivor, with her late mother, Rebecca, of the relentless, heavy bombing inflicted on Glasgow during World War Two, while her brother, Len bravely served in combat with the Royal Navy aboard an aircraft carrier in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres of war. They joined the post-war wave of emigration from Britain, arriving in Canada in 1949. Settling in Toronto, it was there she met William, a fellow Glaswegian and decorated veteran of the war himself, serving with distinction in the British Army from the beginning, he saw service during the North African, Italian, French, Belgian and German campaigns to V-E Day and beyond. They were married in 1951 and eventually moved just north of Toronto to raise their family in the town of Aurora. Although Esther never forgot her Scottish heritage and instilled regard for the homeland in the family, she reserved the highest regard for this country of opportunity that welcomed them after the conflict - Canada. Esther and William were very proud Canadians to the end of their lives.
